The window
The American Football Coaches Association holds its annual convention at the Indiana Convention Center, 100 South Capitol Ave, on 14-16 February 2027. The venue forecasts 7,000 attendance. The AFCA announced the Indianapolis dates in a 5 December 2025 release.
The sold window is five nights: Friday 12 February through Tuesday 16 February, with a Wednesday 17 February checkout. Exhibit-hall move-in opens the window on the Friday and the hall closes at noon on the Tuesday.
The exhibitor schedule sets the arrivals
The exhibit area is available from 8 a.m. on Friday 12 February, with move-in to 5 p.m. that day. Saturday 13 February runs 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the exhibitor FAQ asks exhibitors to be checked in by 6 p.m. Sunday 14 February carries a 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. preparation window.
All exhibits must be ready for the opening of the exhibit area at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Exhibit space sits in Halls B-E. Move-out begins at noon on Tuesday 16 February.
The hall hours are published twice and differ by half an hour on the Sunday. The exhibitor FAQ gives 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday 14 February. The agreement of terms gives 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both documents give 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday 15 February and 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday 16 February.
The two arrival days carry the check-in load. Staff the front desk, housekeeping and the bell rota for Friday and Saturday. Sunday morning carries a 90-minute load-in before the hall opens.
The exhibitor material puts the room at over 7,000 coaches and support personnel, from high school through the professional ranks, across the three days.
The block
The AFCA has secured a block of rooms for exhibiting personnel through its official housing agent. The agreement of terms states that reservations can only be made once booth payment has been received at the AFCA office. Third-party contractors must file their form before 22 January 2027.
The block competes with the rest of February. The venue's own events feed returned eight records for the month on 24 September 2026: the Henry Schein National Sales Meeting on 2-4 February, the Indiana Health and Safety Conference and Expo on 7-10 February, the Indiana Green Expo on 8-10 February, the Core-Mark Expo on 10-11 February, an Economic Club of Indiana luncheon on 12 February, the AFCA convention on 14-16 February, the WWETT equipment show on 22-25 February and Aloha Indy on 28 February.
Four of those records sit in the week before the convention. The rooms the block holds are contested by other shows on the same calendar.
What the block rate sits against
Engine publishes an Indianapolis average of $128 a night across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. Those are par rates, the cheapest public price at the time of each search.
February averages $107, 16 percent below the city average. May averages $158, 23 percent above it. The spread between the cheapest month and the priciest is 32 percent. Indianapolis ranks 39 of 50 markets on rate and sits 14 percent below the $148 median of the set.
The convention lands in the city's cheapest month. That is the setting a contracted block rate is priced against, and it is a citywide figure rather than a rate at any single property.
The venue's own counts
The Indiana Convention Center counts 7,100 hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis, 4,700 rooms connected to the Centre by skywalk, and 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance.
Convention attendance requires an active AFCA membership. Memberships run 1 July to 30 June and include convention registration, so a member in good standing is registered.
