The Moscone Center's own event page puts SPIE Photonics West 2027 at 30 January to 4 February across Moscone North, Moscone South and Moscone West. The organiser runs conferences and courses across the full span. Two exhibitions open inside it, and Monday 1 February holds neither.
Six nights from a Saturday arrival
Saturday 30 January to Friday 5 February is six nights. The conference programme and the courses run from the opening Saturday to the closing Thursday. A five-night pattern from the same Saturday closes on Thursday 4 February, the last night of the programme. Five nights at the city's January line is $830, and the sixth night adds $166.
Monday 1 February is dark on the floor
The organiser publishes two exhibition windows. The BiOS Expo holds 30 and 31 January. The Photonics West exhibition holds 2 to 4 February. Monday 1 February falls between them. The conference programme and the courses run that day, and the SPIE Global Business Forum runs on 1 February 2027 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis with registration open.
The scale the organiser publishes
The organiser's event page invites 24,000 people from the optics and photonics community, lists more than 30 plenary speakers and more than 1,200 companies on display, and reports five stages in its industry programme. Six conference programmes run through the week: AR | VR | MR, BiOS, LASE, OPTO, Quantum West and the Embedded Vision Summit.
The venue's own page carries the dates, the three halls and the contact line at 888 504 8171 and customerservice@spie.org. It prints no attendance figure.
The rate basis under the week
Engine measures the San Francisco market at $165 a night across 3.1 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. January prices at $166, one per cent above that basis. December is the low month at $129 and March the high at $197. The span between the cheapest month and the priciest is 35 per cent, in the publisher's own words. Engine defines its figures as par rates, the cheapest publicly available price at the time of each search. February prices at $166 on the same basis, and the week spans the two months. Six nights at the January line comes to $996 a room.
The citywide spend line
AHLA and CHLA released an Oxford Economics study on 25 June 2026. It records about $900 in citywide spending per visitor for each hotel room night, which puts six nights at about $5,400 a room. The same study counts nearly 50,000 jobs behind the city's hotels, about 16,000 direct and about 34,000 ancillary, puts the 2025 economic impact above $12 billion and total taxes at $2 billion, and records average daily rates at 92 per cent of 2019 levels with a 2026 forecast of 98 per cent. CHLA records 70 cents of every dollar a guest spends going back into the local community.
The venue's own booking calendar
Moscone's published calendar places three bookings around the week. Specialty Food Association Winter FancyFaire 2027 holds 17 to 19 January across Moscone North and South. The ASCO GI Cancers Symposium 2027 holds 21 to 23 January in Moscone West. Photonics West then takes all three halls from 30 January to 4 February. The next Moscone booking is the ASCO GU Cancers Symposium 2027 on 11 to 13 February in Moscone West. The venue's own FAQ counts more than 20,000 hotel rooms within walking distance.
How the desk staffs it
Model six nights, a Saturday arrival and a Friday departure. Staff Monday 1 February on the conference and forum pattern, with the exhibition floor dark. Staff the three floor days from Tuesday 2 February. The last programme night is Thursday 4 February.
