Hilton opened Pay with Points to Hilton Honors members on 21 October. A member holding Silver status or higher can apply points to eligible hotel charges during Digital Check Out in the Hilton Honors app. The benefit runs at 150 hotels in the United States at launch.
The programme moves points redemption into the folio. During Digital Check Out the guest reviews the bill, sees the redemption options that property offers, and applies points to eligible charges. The transaction completes in the app, and Hilton states that no front desk visit is required.
Who holds the benefit
Silver is the entry tier. Gold, Diamond and Diamond Reserve carry it too. Hilton names eligible hotel charges as the redemption target and states that availability and eligible redemption options vary by property. The release publishes no points-to-dollar rate, no minimum redemption and no list of charge categories.
Hilton describes Pay with Points as the first offering of its kind from a major hotel brand to run through a fully digital check out. It joins Digital Check In, Digital Key and Choose Your Room in the app.
The rollout numbers
Hilton’s release gives three counts. 150 hotels in the United States carry the benefit now. The company expects more than 800 hotels by the end of 2026. Full rollout follows to more than 6,000 properties in the United States and Canada in early 2027.
Against the 6,000 target, the launch set covers about 2.5 percent of the footprint. The end-2026 step reaches about 13 percent of it.
What the member research says
Hilton attributes the launch to member feedback. In its own research, 70 percent of Hilton Honors members surveyed said they want to use points toward on-property purchases. About half said the capability could make them more likely to stay or book with Hilton.
Both figures are company-reported. Hilton publishes no sample size, no fielding dates and no question text for either.
The leadership framing
Brad Anderson, vice president of the Hilton Honors Program, framed the change as member choice. “Loyalty is personal, and every Point a member earns represents a choice they made to stay with us,” he said. “Our Hilton Honors members have told us they want more flexibility when it comes to using those Points.”
Anderson places free night stays and experiences among the existing redemption routes. He describes Pay with Points as a friction reducer during travel.
How the property gets paid
An owner communication that View from the Wing reported on 21 October sets the reimbursement rule. Properties are paid the full retail value of the charges a member covers with points. A folio of 100 dollars in charges therefore carries 100 dollars of retail value back to the hotel.
The rate a member receives per point depends on the rate Hilton sets for this redemption. Hilton has not published that rate.
The same communication adds two operating details. A member needs a minimum points balance that the document does not state. The property cannot process or reverse a redemption once the guest completes it.
The operator read
Redemption options vary by property, so each participating hotel sets what a member can cover with points at its own Digital Check Out screen. The reimbursement rule pays full retail value back to the property. The points-to-dollar rate that governs programme cost remains unpublished.
Three items carry the next read on this benefit. The end-2026 count of more than 800 hotels tests the rollout pace. The points-per-dollar rate fixes member value. The eligible charge list decides how much of a bill a member can cover with points.
