Two nights at the Portland table tennis weekend

Six sessions in Hall A from 20 to 22 November, with a 3 p.m. Friday door and a final that runs past checkout on Sunday.

Six sessions over three days

Major League Table Tennis plays its regular season in Hall A at the Oregon Convention Center from Friday 20 November to Sunday 22 November. The venue calendar lists the hall and the three dates. The league's ticket pages list six sessions: 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, the same pair on Saturday, then 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, all Pacific time.

Each session runs about two hours. Doors open one hour before first serve and seating opens 30 minutes before. Friday's first door is 3 p.m. The two 7:30 p.m. sessions open at 6:30 p.m. Sunday opens at 10 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. for the final.

The FanZone opens an hour before first serve with free-play tables, games and merchandise. The league lists player signing sessions through each session.

The two-night stay

Two matches run on each of the three days. A guest who wants Friday's opening session and Sunday's final books the Friday and the Saturday night. Four of the six sessions fall inside those two nights.

The gap between Friday's two sessions runs from about 6 p.m. to a 6:30 p.m. door, and Saturday repeats it. Guests stay in the building across the gap. The desk sees one arrival wave on each session day and one return after 9:30 p.m.

Price the Friday arrival

Friday's 4 p.m. session and Sunday's 11 a.m. session carry the lowest ladder of the weekend: $15 general admission, $10 for a child, a student or a senior, $30 courtside and $45 VIP. The Sunday 2:30 p.m. final carries $25, $20, $45 and $60. Saturday's 7:30 p.m. session matches the final.

The Friday Pass sells both Friday sessions for $30 general admission against $35 for the two singles. Courtside costs $55 for the same pair.

The 3 p.m. door sets the question the desk answers: early check-in, bag hold, or a wait. Ask which session the guest holds. Offer a bag hold when the room is not ready for a 4 p.m. ticket, and price it against the property's own check-in time.

Late checkout against the final

The final starts at 2:30 p.m. and runs to about 4:30 p.m. A midday checkout puts the guest out of the room before the match, with a bag to store and a lobby to sit in.

A 4 p.m. hold covers the final and the walk back to the room. A 1 p.m. hold covers the 1:30 p.m. door and the first half of play. Charge for the 4 p.m. hold. Offer the 1 p.m. hold at a lower fee. Name the fee at booking, because the guest weighs that fee against a bag hold.

Saturday ends after nine

Saturday's second session starts at 7:30 p.m. and runs to about 9:30 p.m. The return to the desk falls after that. A note on the room account and a staffed door at that hour carry it without a queue.

Where the cars go

The venue garage holds 800 spaces underground, entered from NE Lloyd Blvd on P1 and NE First Avenue on P2, with 7 feet of clearance on P1 and 9 feet on P2. Entry costs $15 for up to 18 hours with no in-and-out privilege. During events the venue charges a dynamic $15 to $25 at entry. The garage opens at 6 a.m. and prohibits overnight parking.

The prohibition sends every car to the property for both nights. Quote the nightly parking charge as its own line, and tell the guest the garage will not hold a car between Friday's two sessions or overnight. The garage excludes RVs, campers and trucks with trailers.

The parking booths take cards and touchless payment only. The venue runs its food and beverage outlets the same way. A reverse ATM in the MLK Lobby loads a Visa card with $1 to $500 and cannot be reloaded. MAX light rail stops 300 times a day at the front door, the Streetcar A Loop arrives at NE MLK and Hoyt every 15 minutes, and the airport sits eight miles out.

Two events share the venue

The November calendar lists nine events. The Hoffman Annual Meeting and Dinner takes Oregon Ballroom 202-203 on 20 and 21 November, the same two nights. The ACE Awards take the Portland Ballroom on 19 November.

Thirteen hotels sit within 1,200 metres of the venue on a straight-line measure from mapped addresses. The nearest five are 225, 242, 281, 424 and 498 metres out. A guest at any of them walks to a 3 p.m. door.

Three lines at booking

Ask for the session. Quote the Friday night as the arrival night with the bag hold named. Offer the Sunday checkout as a priced option against the 2:30 p.m. final, and list parking on its own line.
