Castro Street Fair: seven hours of walk-in traffic, no room block

The 52nd Castro Street Fair ran 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026, with no room block and a donation sticker that takes $1 off drinks at four bar partners.

A Seven-Hour Window In The Castro

The 52nd Castro Street Fair ran Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The organiser holds the Fair on the first Sunday in October and publishes the site as Castro and Market Streets and the surrounding area.

Seven hours is the whole trading day, and entry carries no ticket. The organiser asks for a suggested donation of $10 to $20 at the entry gates and states that nobody is turned away for lack of funds.

No Block, No Code, No Cut-Off

The Fair publishes no room block. The site lists no host property, no group code, no room rate and no cut-off date. A front desk in the district prices the day off the gate clock and the published scale lines.

The organiser's own scale lines sit on the exhibitor page. That page reads thousands of attendees from all over the Bay Area. Hundreds of local artists, vendors, craftspeople and organizations line the streets.

Four Streets Close, And A Station Opens

The organiser closes Market Street from Noe to Castro, Castro Street from Market to 19th Street, 18th Street from Diamond to Noe, and 17th Street from Castro to Noe. Muni Metro's K Ingleside, L Taraval, M Ocean View and S Shuttle lines all stop at Castro Station, which sits inside the fairgrounds.

The Sticker That Moves Drinks Spend

The gate donation earns a 2026 donation sticker. That sticker takes $1 off drinks at four official bar partners for the day. The four are Beaux, Copper Kitchen & Microbrewery, Midnight Sun and QBar. The organiser places all four inside the Fair footprint and inside the Castro Entertainment Zone.

The Castro carries official Entertainment Zone status for the day. Guests aged 21 and over can take eligible to-go drinks through the activated footprint, and no glass or metal containers are allowed.

The Fair map marks four bars under the same four names. Sundance Saloon returns to the Castro Theatre parking lot with two-stepping, line dancing and novice lessons, and a boot-check for bags, jackets and street shoes.

Six Hours Of Programmed Stage Time

The Castro Stage at Castro and Market runs six hours of performances, music and DJs. San Francisco Black Pride takes 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the SF Freedom Band and DJ Ka'lonji take 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and DJ Stanley Frank Sensation closes 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Collingwood Stage at 18th and Collingwood runs AHUFF 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the US/BEAUX showcase 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and Grace Towers Presents 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Queer AF Stage sits across from 575 Castro Street near 19th Street at the former site of Harvey Milk's camera shop, and runs four sets from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Family Zone on 18th Street by Diamond opens with Drag Queen Story Time with Per Sia at 12 p.m.

Every timed set published for the three stages ends at or before 6 p.m. The Fair map carries five entertainment labels: Castro Stage, Collingwood Stage, Queer AF Stage, Family Zone and Sundance Saloon.

Where The Gate Money Goes

The organiser states that money collected at the entry gates goes to beneficiary partner organizations and helps cover the costs of producing the Fair. The 2026 beneficiary list carries 11 named partners. Those partners supply volunteers who welcome guests and collect donations at the gates, and they take a share of the gate proceeds in return.

Since 1998 the Fair has distributed more than $1.6 million to local nonprofits. The organiser also supports the Castro Merchants Association in the purchase and maintenance of the Rainbow Flag in Harvey Milk Plaza.

What The District Gets

The Fair's own 50th-anniversary release, dated 2024, quotes the then Board President on an estimated $8 million in total visitor impact. That estimate is the organiser's, and it carries the 2024 date.

Engine puts San Francisco at $165 a night across 3.1 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. October runs $176, seven percent above the city average, and September runs $192.

The Dayuse San Francisco page, read 7 October 2026, gives an average day-room price of $119.61 and recommends The Mosser Hotel. Its card window carries 20 properties with day rates from $85 to $159.

The Front Desk Read

The Fair sells no ticket and publishes no attendance figure. The exhibitor page's thousands and the 2024 impact estimate are the two published scale lines.

A desk inside the footprint prices a seven-hour walk-in window that ends at 6 p.m. The $1 discount runs on four bar tabs, and the Entertainment Zone rule keeps those drinks inside the activated footprint.

Volunteer registration for the 2026 Fair closed Sunday, October 4 at 12 p.m. The Fair is a smoke-free event. The mailing address on file is 584 Castro Street #513.
