A free course three brands built together
Hilton, Hyatt and IHG Hotels & Resorts released a human trafficking prevention curriculum for hotel owners, operators and brands. The course is free. Protect All Children from Trafficking (PACT) administers it at courses.wearepact.org/preventing-human-trafficking.
AHLA Foundation published the announcement on 28 January 2026 under a Washington, D.C. dateline. The release calls the curriculum a modernized, updated version of earlier industry training. It states that this is the first joint training initiative by the three companies.
What the 30-minute course covers
PACT describes the training as a free 30-minute course for hotel owners and operators. The course teaches participants to understand human trafficking, to recognize warning signs in hotel settings, to respond through internal reporting procedures and to support a safe environment for guests and colleagues.
The release states that the curriculum is survivor-informed and uses live-action video storytelling. PACT supplied subject-matter expertise grounded in survivors’ lived experience. Unboxed Training & Technology served as the strategic learning design partner and built a scalable, multilingual course aligned to shared industry standards.
The certificate and the support
Participants receive a certificate on successful completion. The release lists two further elements. PACT provides technical support through the training. It sends scheduled reminders to encourage completion.
The release and PACT’s page publish no enrollment count, no completion rate and no deadline for taking the course.
Where to take the training
The course sits on PACT’s website under its hotel training section. The release says the training is available to independent hotel owners, operators and brands throughout 2026. PACT’s course page carries the line “Currently available.”
The language the two issuers describe
The release says the training “will now be available in English and Spanish.” PACT’s course page says it is “Currently available in English and with Spanish subtitles.” The two wordings differ on whether the Spanish layer is a full track or subtitles over the English video.
The 2.6 million completions beside it
The collaboration sits inside AHLA Foundation’s No Room for Trafficking initiative. All three companies sit on the initiative’s advisory council. The release says the new training will be featured alongside existing training launched by Marriott International, which the release says industry employees have completed more than 2.6 million times since 2020.
AHLA Foundation’s No Room for Trafficking page carries the same 2.6 million figure as specialised anti-trafficking trainings completed by industry employees since 2020. That total covers the free courses the foundation distributes through PACT, with Marriott International among them.
The executives who signed the announcement
Katherine Lugar, executive vice president of corporate affairs at Hilton and president of the Hilton Global Foundation, said the three companies are “putting competition aside and partnering across the industry.” Joan Bottarini, chief financial officer at Hyatt and chair of AHLA Foundation’s No Room for Trafficking advisory council, said survivor and hotel-team input shaped the updated design. Rani Hammond, senior vice president of global human resources at IHG Hotels & Resorts, called the result a survivor-informed resource. Kevin Carey, president and chief executive of AHLA Foundation, said the collaboration shows industry-wide cooperation on shared priorities.
What the announcement leaves open
The release publishes no tally of hotels or employees that have taken the new curriculum. It states no requirement that the three companies put their own staff through it. It describes no change the modernization made to the earlier version. It names no launch day inside its 2026 window and no cost, because access is free.
An operator who wants the certificate has one route. The PACT course page takes thirty minutes and costs nothing.
