Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2026: Gate Clocks For The Front Desk

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2026 runs October 2 to 4 in Golden Gate Park with no tickets and no room block. Gate hours, the evening sweep and the October rate basis set the front desk's week.

A Free Weekend On A Fixed Clock

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2026 runs Friday October 2, Saturday October 3 and Sunday October 4 in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. The site is Hellman Hollow, Lindley and Marx meadows.

The organiser publishes the event as free with no tickets needed. Entrances open at 11 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Performances end at 7 p.m. on all three days.

The published programme sets its own windows. Friday runs 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday run 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

What That Gives The Desk To Staff

Gate hours run eight on Friday and ten on each weekend day, 28 across the festival. Performance hours run six on Friday and eight on each weekend day, 22 in total.

Every day opens its gates two hours before the first set. Eleven to one on Friday. Nine to eleven on Saturday and Sunday.

Six stages carry the programme: Banjo, Swan, Towers of Gold, Rooster, Arrow and Horseshoe Hill. The organiser streams all six on HSBTV, and the festival map labels the same six. The Rooster Stage is dark on Friday.

No Ticket And No Room Block

The organiser sells no tickets. The FAQ, the schedule and the map carry no attendance figure and no capacity figure, so a desk has no count to forecast a pickup against.

The FAQ carries no room block. Its housing answer is a referral. It asks visitors to call the Chamber of Commerce, use a travel site, or contact the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, and to book directly through www.sfvisitor.org. The Visitor Information Center takes requests on 415-391-2000 and toll free on 888-782-9673.

Camping is not allowed in Golden Gate Park. The organiser names Rob Hill Campground in the Presidio and an RV park by Candlestick as the nearby options.

The Evening Sweep And The Egress Clock

Waste management sweeps the park each evening. The organiser states that the sweep leaves no way to save a space for the following day, and asks visitors to take out what they brought in.

Vehicle access and golf cart access on JFK Drive halt at about 6:15 p.m. for crowd safety. Service resumes about 45 minutes later and the golf carts stop at 7:30 p.m. The ADA shuttle runs to 7:30 p.m. Thirty minutes past the last set.

The published programme ends at 7 p.m. on all three days. A desk sets the late-arrival cut-off at the point where the house can still turn the room.

Arrivals Run Through Transit

The organiser encourages public transport and runs extra Muni service on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Regular fares apply.

Muni serves the north side of the park with the 5 Fulton, 5R Fulton Rapid, 31 Balboa, 38 Geary and 38R Geary Rapid buses. The south side has the N Judah train and the 7 Haight/Noriega bus. The 29 Sunset runs through the park on Crossover Drive.

Taxi stands sit on Fulton from 22nd to 24th. Ride-share drop-offs and pickups are pinned around Washington High School on 30th Avenue between Anza and Balboa, and on Balboa between 30th and 31st. Pickups sit on Irving between 25th and 27th Avenue. The organiser states the apps allow pin drops only inside the designated area.

Local PTAs run paid parking at a few lots. The lots open on Saturday and Sunday only, on a first come first served basis. Last year's list was George Washington High School at 600 32nd Avenue, Argonne at 680 18th Avenue, Lawton Alternative School at 1570 31st Avenue, Lafayette Elementary at 4545 Anza Street and the SFUSD Admin Campus at 750 25th Avenue. Each lot is independently owned and operated, and the organiser states it cannot guarantee access at the published dates and times. Street parking around the park is, in the organiser's words, extremely limited.

Streets The Desk Should Track

The organiser publishes the closures. JFK Drive closes between Transverse Drive and Bernice Rogers Drive. 36th Avenue and 30th Avenue close between Fulton Street and JFK Drive. Transverse Drive closes between Crossover Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Middle Drive West closes between Transverse Drive and MLK. MLK runs westbound only between 25th Avenue and Chain of Lakes.

The October Rate Basis

Engine puts San Francisco at $165 a night across 3.1 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. These are par rates, the cheapest publicly available price at the time of each search.

October averages $176, 7 percent above the city average. September averages $192 and March $197. December is the lowest month at $129. The cheapest month and the priciest sit 35 percent apart. San Francisco ranks 18th of 50 markets and sits 11 percent above the $148 median.

The figures rest on searches made 10 to 180 days before check-in.

The Properties Around The Park

The organiser describes the site as a large area inside Golden Gate Park. It covers grassy fields, sandy pathways and paved walkways.

A bounded address-index search around the park returns a small mapped hotel roster. Stanyan Park Hotel sits at 750 Stanyan Street. The Laurel Inn at 444 Presidio Avenue. The Geary Parkway Motel at 4750 Geary Boulevard in the Inner Richmond. The Seal Rock Inn at 545 Point Lobos Avenue in the Outer Richmond. Metro Hotel at 319 Divisadero Street. Casa Loma Hotel at 600 to 610 Fillmore Street.

Those positions are straight-line from an address index.

What The Desk Should Hold

Three park days, six stages, 28 gate hours and 22 performance hours. The published programme ends at 7 p.m. each day.

The organiser sells no tickets and publishes no room block, so the house count follows day visitors a desk cannot count in advance.

Two hours of arrivals precede the first set each day. Transit carries the load. The paid lots run on Saturday and Sunday only. October stands at $176 a night against the city's $165 average, in par rates.
