Calistoga Spa Hot Springs Moves to Mews After 20 Years

Calistoga Spa Hot Springs moved 57 rooms to Mews PMS and RMS after more than two decades on another platform. Around 50% of arriving guests check in online, and the vendor's onboarding team worked on site.

Calistoga Spa Hot Springs now runs Mews for property management. The Napa Valley resort made the switch after more than two decades on another platform. Mews published its account of the change on 17 September 2026, with a Dallas dateline.

The property holds 57 guest rooms around four outdoor geothermal mineral pools in downtown Calistoga.

Half of a Typical Day's Arrivals Check In Online

Around 50% of arriving guests check in online on a typical day, per the release. Mews carries the figure and Mike Lennon, the property's general manager, gives the account of the rollout. The release names no previous vendor.

Guests who complete check-in online move through the lobby faster, and new arrivals head straight for the pools. Guests can pre-order amenities before arrival, including a welcome bottle of wine and an extended pool pass.

The release states no measurement window and no denominator. An operator weighing the same move has four questions for the property and the vendor: the window, the denominator, the previous baseline, and whether the share holds across weekends and harvest-season weeks.

Onboarding Ran on Property With the Front Desk and Housekeeping Teams

Lennon brought the Mews onboarding team on site. He paired self-paced Mews University modules with in-person sessions for managers, front desk agents and housekeeping staff. Configurations changed on the spot during those sessions.

"The Mews onboarding team were incredibly patient with us and made themselves available every time we threw a curveball at them," Lennon said. "Having them on-site with our front desk and housekeeping teams instead of over a screen made a huge difference. It's an additional cost, but it was well worth it."

Lennon states the arrangement carried an additional cost. The release gives no figure for it, no number of training days and no count of staff trained.

The Stack: PMS, RMS, Flexkeeping, Guest Messaging

Calistoga Spa Hot Springs runs Mews PMS alongside Mews RMS. Flexkeeping, a Mews company, is rolling out for housekeeping. Mews Guest Messaging is the next module, per the release.

"Calistoga Spa Hot Springs shows what an intuitive system paired with a hands-on team can do for an independent property," said Michael Coscetta, president of Mews. "Mews is built so operators can get up and running fast on their own, and Mike's team chose to bring our onboarding specialists on-site anyway to match the pace of a busy property."

Mews states its platform spans property management, point of sale, revenue management, housekeeping and payments. It reports 15,000 customers across 85 countries and lists Best PMS for 2024, 2025 and 2026, Best POS for 2026 and six years on Hotel Tech Report's Best Places to Work in Hotel Tech list.

The Property Behind the Switch

Calistoga Spa Hot Springs is an independent resort and spa in downtown Calistoga, in California's Napa Valley. It holds four outdoor geothermal mineral pools and a spa known for volcanic ash mud baths. The same ownership group has run the property since the 1960s. Guests stay multiple nights.

Lennon wanted a system that matched the resort's scale and a channel for communicating with guests before and after a stay. A 57-room property carries a front desk team sized to that inventory. The share of arrivals handled online is a direct read on desk workload.

What the Release Leaves Unpublished

No nightly rate, occupancy figure or revenue line accompanies the switch. Neither the rollout start date, the labour hours saved, a staffing table nor the contract term appears in the release.

For a comparable property, the useful requests are the measurement method behind the 50% figure, the on-site onboarding cost, the live date for the housekeeping module and the launch date for guest messaging.
