Marriott's Upgrade Queue Moves Onto the Member's Screen

Marriott Bonvoy is testing a beta app screen that reports the upgrades available and a member's place in line for a complimentary upgrade, with notice one day before arrival.

The screen and its two numbers

Marriott Bonvoy is testing an app screen titled "Your Complimentary Upgrade Status." The screen reports an estimate of the upgrades available for a stay and the member's current position in line. It carries a beta label. LoyaltyLobby reported the capability on 11 October 2026, and One Mile at a Time reproduced the on-screen wording from a screenshot posted in the Marriott Bonvoy Insiders group on Facebook.

The fine print states three rules: the position may change, the estimate counts rooms matching the booked stay dates and bed type, and Nightly Upgrade Awards are processed ahead of complimentary upgrades and sit outside the number shown.

What the readout exposes

Hotels already hold an ordered list of arriving guests with an internal score, and Marriott added automated complimentary upgrades in July 2025. The screen publishes a member's place in that order close to the arrival date. One member account described in the coverage shows a position moving from second to third during the same stay.

One Mile at a Time notes the list carries no distinction between an upgrade to a high-floor room and a suite, and asks which rooms a property enters into the estimate.

The clock the screen promises

The app states a member hears one day before arrival when a complimentary upgrade is confirmed. Properties process many upgrades overnight before arrival or early on the day of arrival. The gap between the promised notice and the processing window sits on the property side of the screen.

The rollout Marriott has set

One Mile at a Time reports Marriott's stated reason for the feature: members have consistently asked for greater visibility into complimentary upgrades. The page is live at a small subset of hotels and is to expand to more than 250 hotels in the United States and Canada by early November 2026.

Marriott's news centre carries no release on the feature. The rollout figure and the feature description rest on the coverage named above, with Marriott named as their source inside those reports.

What the coverage leaves open

Which room and suite categories count toward the estimate is unresolved. How the queue moves as higher-priority requests arrive rests on the single member account. Whether the added visibility leads members into paid upgrade offers sits as a question in One Mile at a Time, and neither report confirms it.
