The terms of IHG's October points window
IHG One Rewards ran a buy-points promotion from 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time on 10 October 2026 to 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on 13 October 2026. LoyaltyLobby, which carries the offer terms, counts it as the programme's eighth buy-points bonus sale of 2026 and reads the schedule as close to monthly.
The offer paid a 100 percent bonus on a purchase of at least 35,000 points in a single transaction, plus a 3,500-point gift deposited within six weeks of the transaction date. The terms state that the number of points a member may purchase, gift or receive as a gift during the window falls under the annual limits in the IHG One Rewards membership terms.
The price of a point in the window
At 35,000 points the purchase cost $350 and delivered 35,000 base points, a 35,000-point bonus and the 3,500-point gift, for 73,500 points. That works out at about 0.48 US cents a point. A 200,000-point purchase at $2,000 delivered 403,500 points, close to 0.5 US cents a point.
What the terms cap and exclude
The offer's own terms set a calendar-year ceiling of 200,000 points, reduced by whatever the member had already purchased during 2026. The published example: a member who had bought 50,000 points during 2026 could buy 150,000 points during the offer period. A member who reaches the 200,000-point ceiling for 2026 cannot buy again for the rest of the calendar year.
Three further conditions sit in the terms. Purchased points and the bonus points earn no IHG One Rewards Elite status credit. Points post within 72 hours, and the gift follows within six weeks. Purchases are not refundable.
The bonus percentage shows inside a signed-in account, so the rate a member sees can differ from the advertisement.
What the window asks of a hotel revenue team
The ceiling runs across the calendar year. A member who fills the allowance in one window arrives at the next one with less room to buy, so the decision sits in the member's account and in the property's own rate.
Award nights price dynamically. A revenue team reads a points purchase against the cash rate for the same dates, which is the number the purchase has to beat before a guest books on points.
The terms state the offer is subject to change, and each window carries its own threshold and bonus percentage. The 100 percent bonus and the 35,000-point single-transaction minimum belong to this window.
