The Clocks the Publishers Fix
The ISSMA State Marching Band Finals run Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Lucas Oil Stadium. The venue publishes three clocks. The ticket office opens at 7:45 a.m. The North and West gates open at 9:00 a.m. The start time is 9:30 a.m. The venue's event record closes the envelope at 11:59 p.m.
The venue states this is the 53rd year of the Indiana State Marching Band Finals and lists 42 Indiana high school bands. The event has been held at Lucas Oil Stadium each year since the stadium opened.
All ticketing is mobile and the facility is cashless. Children under three, carried in arms, are admitted free. ISSMA publishes the ticket prices: $30.00 adult and $25.00 student or child, before fees.
The Arrival Night Is Friday
Friday, November 6, 2026 is the night before the finals. A band with an early performance slot needs to be inside before the 9:00 a.m. gate. The 9:30 a.m. start is the published start of the day.
ISSMA publishes performance schedules for its Festival Class, its Scholastic prelims and Open Invitational, and its Open Class Regionals. It publishes no State Finals performance schedule. The per-band clock for November 7 is therefore unpublished, and the 9:30 a.m. start is the fixed point a group plans around.
The rate enquiry is one night wide. A band travels Friday, performs Saturday and leaves.
What the Ticket Ladder Says About the Buyer
ISSMA's own ticket document sets the prices at $30.00 for an adult and $25.00 for a student or child, excluding fees. Ticketmaster charges $7.75 a ticket on top. Two adults and two students pay $110 at the published face value, and $141 through Ticketmaster.
The same document names three routes with no added fee. The stadium ticket office sells in person on Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST, by credit card with matching photo ID, and takes no cash or checks. A participating school runs a limited-time group purchase through the band director. On the day, the Southeast Ticket Office opens at 7:45 a.m.
The Rate Reads Behind the Night
Engine publishes the city average at $128 a night across 1.2M public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. Its figures are par rates, defined on the page as the cheapest publicly available price at the time of each search. November sits at $122, five percent under the city average. February is the low month at $107 and May the peak at $158. The page puts the swing across the year at 32 percent, ranks Indianapolis 39 of 50 markets and places it 14 percent below the $148 median. The observations are searches made 10 to 180 days before check-in.
The venue's own hotel portal gives the night-level read. Read 25 September 2026 for a Friday, November 6 arrival, the Lucas Oil Stadium list returns 20 priced properties. Three sit inside 0.6 miles: Staybridge Suites at 0.05 miles for $688, JW Marriott Indianapolis at 0.46 miles for $569 and Hyatt Regency Indianapolis at 0.53 miles for $713. The other 17 sit between 1.8 and 7.0 miles out and run from $66 to $429 a night.
The same list read 25 September 2026 for a Sunday, November 8 arrival returns 20 priced properties, all inside 0.62 miles of the stadium, from $158 at the Omni Severin to $360 at Conrad Indianapolis.
Where the Published Figures Stop
ISSMA publishes no lodging programme. A sweep of its home page, marching band page, calendar, entry forms, organisation events page, solo and ensemble page, required lists page and news page returns zero occurrences of "lodging", zero of "hotel" and zero of "housing". No negotiated block rate and no cut-off date exists for these 42 bands.
The downtown room base is published elsewhere. The Indiana Convention Center's attendee pages state 7,100 hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis and 4,700 rooms connected to the convention centre by skywalk.
The venue's November event feed lists five events and no attendance forecast: the finals on November 7, Colts against the Dallas Cowboys on November 8 at a 1:00 p.m. kickoff, Bands of America Grand Nationals from November 12 to 14, Colts against the Miami Dolphins on November 15 and Colts against the New York Giants on November 29.
Building the Friday Offer
Three published facts shape the offer. The event is one day. The arrival night is Friday. A football Sunday follows the next morning at 1:00 p.m.
Price the Friday night from the Friday read. The portal's own Friday list prices the three closest downtown properties at $688, $569 and $713. Its Sunday list prices every downtown property inside 0.62 miles between $158 and $360.
Hold the one-night rate as a single-night product. The group needs Friday and leaves Saturday. A two-night minimum cuts the market to the bands with a second night to fill.
The Sunday before the group leaves carries the venue's own clocks for that day: ticket office 9:00 a.m., Touchdown Town 10:00 a.m., gates 11:00 a.m.
The family segment that fills a Friday night's second and third room counts the ticket fee. A rate that includes breakfast or waives parking answers a number the guest is already counting.
