A three-night stay that prices in November
The Bands of America Grand National Championship runs at Lucas Oil Stadium from Thursday 12 November to Saturday 14 November 2026. Music for All splits the programme into Thursday prelims, Friday prelims, Saturday semi-finals and Saturday finals. A band on a three-night stay holds Thursday 12, Friday 13 and Saturday 14, with departure on Sunday 15.
Engine's Indianapolis page prices a November night at $122. The city average on the same page is $128, drawn from 1.2 million public rate observations made between May 2024 and April 2026. February is the floor at $107. May is the peak at $158. The page ranks Indianapolis 39 of 50 markets, 14 percent below the $148 median of the set.
Engine defines those numbers as par rates. A par rate is the cheapest publicly available price at the time of each search, and the observations were made 10 to 180 days before check-in. The organiser does not publish the rate it negotiates for a band block.
The block is fixed seven weeks out
Music for All requires all competing and exhibition bands and their booster groups that use hotel accommodations to book through the Bands of America Housing Bureau. A band that books outside the bureau will not be permitted to perform and forfeits all enrollment fees.
The bureau's Grand Nationals timeline sets the final rooming list 45 days before arrival. A 12 November arrival puts that date on Monday 28 September 2026, seven weeks before the first competition morning. Rooms may be cancelled at any time before the 45-day mark. Reducing a block by more than 20 percent could incur a penalty.
The bureau begins releasing contracted rooms it no longer needs for individual booking after 1 September. The release runs at the administrator's discretion. The policy document states that its 2026 Fall participants are filling guest rooms contracted as early as 2020.
The rate file the band cannot read
The bureau page's Quick Links list a 2026 Grand Nationals Housing Reference Guide. That entry renders as plain text with no link. Four documents resolve from the same list: the policy, the two timelines and the Ballad Health East Tennessee Regional partner sheet. The East Tennessee sheet is the only one of the four that carries per-property rates, and it covers Johnson City.
The Grand Nationals timeline defines a Housing Guide as a document that details hotel options including price, location, amenities and availability. For this event that document is unpublished.
The policy document states that Music for All's negotiated hotel rates include modest financial support and commissions from participating hotels. It publishes no figure for either.
Parking and buses sit outside the room rate
The policy document states that all downtown hotels charge for parking, at every service level. It states that downtown hotels cannot accommodate buses. Suburban properties generally have room for buses and trucks at little to no additional cost.
A band placed downtown prices overnight vehicle parking on top of its room rate, and parks its buses away from the hotel.
Three mornings start at seven
The venue's page for the championship publishes one clock block covering all three days. The South Parking Lot opens at 6:00 a.m., the ticket office at 6:45 a.m., and the East Gate and the competition both at 7:00 a.m.
The expo loads in earlier. Move-in for both booth types runs Wednesday 11 November from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A standard booth sells for $795 and a premium booth for $1,395. The exhibitor side needs the Tuesday night before the bands arrive.
The field, and the Sunday behind it
The organiser's participating bands list carries 96 bands from 22 states, stamped information last updated September 24, 2026. Ohio sends 26, Indiana 17, Kentucky 10, Texas 7, Michigan 6 and Tennessee 5. The other sixteen states send three bands or fewer each.
The organiser's enrollment page lists the championship at a show capacity of 112 with 99 enrolled and space available, as of June 8, 2026. The venue's page carries the event as nearly 100 high school marching bands from across the country, and it publishes no attendance figure.
The Colts host the Miami Dolphins at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday 15 November. The venue's page for that fixture gives a 1:00 p.m. kickoff, a 9:00 a.m. ticket office, a 10:00 a.m. Touchdown Town and an 11:00 a.m. gate. A band that checks out on Sunday morning leaves on the day the stadium fills for football.
What the desk can set
Three published facts shape the week. The competition starts at 7:00 a.m. on three consecutive mornings. The rooming list lands on 28 September, which fixes the block before the public nights price. The Sunday kickoff follows the band departures by a few hours.
Music for All publishes the mandate, the deadlines and the parking policy. It publishes no negotiated rate and no per-property list for this event. The hotelier's own November line is the only published price for the finals nights.
