The Indiana Convention Center's sixth expansion and the Signia by Hilton Indianapolis carry a December 2026 opening target. The two buildings sit east of the center and connect by a skywalk over Capitol Avenue.
What the expansion adds
The expansion adds 143,500 square feet, including a 50,000-square-foot ballroom. The convention center calls it the largest ballroom in the state and one of the ten largest convention center ballrooms in the country. The center states the addition lets Indianapolis host two citywide conventions at once.
What the hotel adds
Hilton's topping-off release gives the hotel 800 rooms over 38 stories. The convention center's project page and Visit Indy's connected-hotel list both print 803.
The convention center puts the hotel's meeting space at 90,000 square feet. The list runs to a 50,455-square-foot Grand Ballroom, a 15,668-square-foot Junior Ballroom and a 9,000-square-foot Signature Ballroom. Seventy suites run from 450 to 1,900 square feet. Hilton's release puts the hotel's meeting space close to 100,000 square feet.
Seven dining options, a rooftop sky bar and pool, a fitness and recovery center and Club Signia sit on the convention center's amenity list. Visit Indy takes reservations for stays from 1 February 2027.
The midweek group question
Downtown holds 7,100 rooms, 4,700 of them skywalk-connected. The Signia takes the connected count to 12 hotels and more than 5,200 rooms on Hilton's count.
Visit Indy reports $1.3 billion in retained convention business and interest in $1 billion of new bookings, with groups holding space to 2036. The American Society of Safety Professionals booked the Grand Ballroom for a general session of 10,000 attendees in June 2030.
The city financed the hotel with $625 million in hotel revenue bonds.
What an operator prices off
Three items need the sales team's own answer: the group rate floor for the opening months, the minimum-stay term that applies then, and the hiring timeline for the 400 hotel positions the convention center counts.
Engine's Indianapolis set, drawn from 1.2 million public rate observations between May 2024 and April 2026, shows a $128 annual average. May runs $158 and September $117. Engine defines those figures as par rates, the cheapest public price at the time of each search.
The center opened in 1972 and has expanded five times. Groundbreaking for the sixth ran in summer 2023, and the tower topped out in October 2025.
