One Saturday, Three Phases and a Late Finish
Lit Crawl SF 2026 runs Saturday 24 October in the Mission District. Litquake produces the night, and the crawl caps the annual Litquake Festival. The organiser publishes its office at 988 Market St, Suite 700, with a phone number at (415) 440-4177 and one email address, info@litquake.org.
The published programme splits the evening into three phases. Phase 1 runs 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Phase 2 runs 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Phase 3 runs 8:00pm to 9:00pm. A venue map carries all three clocks.
The schedule host lists 20 sessions in the 5:00pm slot, 17 in the 6:30pm slot and 14 in the 8:00pm slot. Session 52 starts at 9:00pm. That entry is the afterparty at The Drawing Room: Annex, 599 Valencia St. The map gives the party a 9:00pm to 11:00pm window and a $10 door charge, and it prints NOTAFLOF beside the price.
Two clocks sit on one night. The crawl floor closes at 9:00pm. The room at 599 Valencia St stays open two hours past that.
The Organiser Publishes the Headcount
The crawl page carries the count. It reads 250+ authors and close to 5,000 fans. The same page calls the night the world's largest free pop-up literary event and dates the first edition to 2004.
No ticket sits behind that figure. The schedule host states that no RSVPs are necessary and that seating and space are first come, first serve.
No page publishes a headcount per venue and no page publishes a registration list, so a desk plans the night from the phase clocks alone.
24 Addresses, 21 on the Phase Route
The published venue list holds 24 addresses. Twenty-one host the numbered phase sessions. Three carry the pre-crawl programme: Mission Branch Library, Temporary Location at 1234 Valencia St, The Writers Grotto at 1663 Mission St #602 and Page Street Co-working at 297 Page St.
The phase addresses sit on a short spine. Valencia St carries 4, 521, 540, 599, 603, 775, 826, 900, 992 and 1026. Mission St carries 2140, 2323, 2544 and 2831a. The rest sit on 15th, 20th, 22nd and 24th streets, Folsom St and Treat Ave.
Straight-line distances between the published street addresses run from 146 feet to 1.45 miles. Good Vibrations at 603 Valencia St and The Drawing Room: Annex at 599 Valencia St sit 146 feet apart. Martuni's at 4 Valencia St and Medicine for Nightmares at 3036 24th St sit 1.45 miles apart. Across the 21 phase venues the spread measures 1.41 miles north to south and 0.55 miles east to west.
The map offers one transport line of its own. It reads: Lit Crawl is BARTable.
The Operating Day Starts at 10:00am
Three entries run before the phases. Love Your Library opens at 10:00am at Mission Branch Library, Temporary Location. Lit & Libations at the Writer's Grotto carries a 2:00pm to 4:00pm window on the schedule host, and the map prints the same event as 2:30pm to 4:00pm. Want to Read at Lit Crawl? A Pre-Crawl Tailgate runs 3:00pm to 4:00pm at Page Street Co-working.
The map heads both tailgates FREE. It tags Page Street and The Writers Grotto as Premium Tailgate Sponsors of the 2026 Lit Crawl. The Grotto window differs by 30 minutes between the two documents.
Age Markers at the Door
Four venues carry a marker on the map. Martuni's at 4 Valencia St, Blondie's Bar at 540 Valencia St and Latin American Club at 3286 22nd St are marked 21+. Good Vibrations at 603 Valencia St is marked 18+. The map keys that class as Age Restricted.
The schedule host tags at session level. Nine sessions carry a 21+ tag and six carry an 18+ tag, and the afterparty sits in the 21+ group. Ten venues carry a session-level tag, and four of them carry a map marker.
The two documents disagree at seven addresses. Latin American Club is 21+ on the map and 18+ on its 8:00pm session. Monkeybrains at 933 Treat Ave, The Sycamore at 2140 Mission St, Curio Bar SF at The Chapel at 775 Valencia St, Et al. etc. at 2831a Mission St, Red Poppy Art House at 2698 Folsom St and The Drawing Room: Annex carry session tags with no marker on the map.
What the Track Does Not Publish
The word hotel returns zero hits on the crawl page, the schedule host and the venue map. Lodging and stay return zero on the same three documents.
No page on the track names a partner property for the 24 October date. None publishes a room block, a rate, a cut-off date or a group code. The same three documents carry zero hits for parking, coach, shuttle and valet.
The Posture for the Night
The published clocks set one handling decision for a desk. A guest at the last phase ends at 9:00pm. A guest at the afterparty ends at 11:00pm. A late-checkout window and a walk-in plan key off the later clock.
Two terms print well at the desk. Entry to the crawl charges nothing on any published page. The afterparty takes $10 at the door and carries NOTAFLOF.
One term stays open. No property on the published venue list is a lodging business, and no page on the track names one, so the night ships with no published size for a desk to hold.
