The window and the registration gate
IHG One Rewards opened pre-registration for its fourth-quarter 2026 promotion on 17 September 2026 and closed the pre-registration period on 30 September 2026. A member who missed that window may register during the promotion period. Stays completed before registration do not qualify, even when they fall inside the promotion period.
The promotion period runs 1 October 2026 to 31 December 2026. Bonus earning is unlimited, and 2X or 3X means base points plus bonus points equal two or three times the base points a member normally receives. Reward Nights and Points plus Cash stays are excluded. Frequent Miler reproduces the terms and dates its page 2 October 2026.
The channel split the terms set
Every qualifying stay must be booked through an IHG-owned direct booking channel, and a member's first qualifying stay must also be booked that way to trigger the bonus. No bonus accrues on the first qualifying stay. Stays booked through third-party channels are not qualifying stays.
The booking channel for each stay sets its tier. A stay booked through an IHG-owned direct channel earns 2X. A stay booked through the IHG One Rewards App, WeChat or LINE earns 3X. A member can therefore earn 2X on some stays and 3X on others inside the same promotion.
The app is the 3X route in every market on Android and iOS. In mainland China the eligible channels also include the app on HarmonyOS and WeChat. In Japan, Taiwan and Thailand they also include LINE. The terms steer loyalty bookings to the network's own app, and third-party channels earn nothing.
The pricing the outlet puts on it
Frequent Miler prices the offer for members holding an IHG credit card. Its own arithmetic puts an app booking at 32 to 36 points per dollar and a return of about 18 to 21 percent. The outlet places that return above Hilton's fall promotion, which it values at $3 to $10 back per stay. Both figures are the outlet's own calculation over card earning rates, not promotion terms.
The second-stay trigger
The second-stay trigger is the term the outlet criticises most. A member can register immediately, but stays do not count until 1 October, and the first qualifying stay earns no bonus. The outlet notes that the rule falls hardest on a member whose first stay is long.
Stacking a portal and a card offer
The outlet points to two stacking routes beyond the base promotion. Clicking through from a shopping portal can earn cashback or rewards on the stay. Chase Offers can also carry a statement credit for IHG or for a specific IHG brand, and the outlet names a live offer for Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders.
Two statements in the post that do not match
The post's summary line says that only bookings completed after registration count. Its own key terms say that stays completed before registration do not qualify. A booking made before registration and completed after it is settled by neither line.
What the terms mean for the quarter
For an operator, the promotion moves loyalty bookings toward the IHG app for the rest of the year. For a member with nights planned inside the quarter, the promotion is worth registering for early and booking through the app. The value depends on the channel, the stay count and whether the member holds a co-branded card.
