The programme's statement
World of Hyatt plans to let members share points digitally. The programme's statement reads: "As World of Hyatt continues to listen closely to members, the program plans to introduce new enhancements designed to make it even more engaging. Later this year, members will be able to share points digitally, making it easier than ever to help a loved one begin their next adventure or turn a special occasion into a shared experience."
The statement names no date, no processing time and no cap.
The online transfer
One Mile at a Time reported the transfer live on 15 October under the headline "World Of Hyatt Free Online Points Transfers Live: How They Work & Limits". The piece states the terms Hyatt published with the launch. Both accounts must have been open at least 60 days. Points move at a one-to-one ratio, from a minimum of 1,000 points in increments of 500. A member can transfer up to 525,000 points per transaction and transfer or receive up to that figure across accounts per calendar year. The programme allows six free transfers per calendar year. The sender supplies the recipient's first name, last name, email address and World of Hyatt number.
The paper route it replaces
The paper route runs through the Point Combining Request Form. Each member enters an account number, a phone number, a mailing address and an email address, and each member signs the form. The completed form goes to World of Hyatt Customer Service, P.O. Box 27089, Omaha, NE 68127-0089, or by email to worldofhyatt@hyatt.com.
One rule governed that route. A member could send or receive points once every 30 days, according to the guide BoardingArea published on 15 October. The same guide reports replies within a few days recently and waits of about a week at other times.
The sequence on 15 October
The guide updated on 15 October carried Hyatt's expectation that the online transfer would arrive that day. Its writer checked that morning and found the transfer not live. One Mile at a Time reported it live later the same day at 15:27 GMT.
What Hyatt has not published
Hyatt's statement names no launch date and no processing time. The programme has published no cap in its own wording. The 525,000-point figure comes from the terms One Mile at a Time carried with the launch.
