The 30th TIAA Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament runs Tuesday 9 March to Sunday 14 March 2027 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, 125 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis. The conference published the round ladder on 7 August 2026 and the 2026-27 conference schedule on 16 September 2026. All 18 teams qualify for a single-elimination bracket.
Six nights sit inside that window, 9 through 14 March, with a Monday 15 March departure. The final regular-season games fall on Sunday 7 March 2027.
The arrival curve the seed line sets
Each round carries its own field size. Tuesday puts four teams on the floor for two games, among seeds 15 through 18. Wednesday carries four games as seeds 9 through 14 join. Thursday carries four games as seeds 5 through 8 open. Friday carries four quarterfinals as the top four seeds open. Saturday carries two semifinals, and Sunday carries the title game. Seventeen games resolve the field over the six days.
Four dates in the week are first-game dates. Seeds 15 through 18 first play Tuesday 9 March, seeds 9 through 14 Wednesday 10 March, seeds 5 through 8 Thursday 11 March, and the top four seeds Friday 12 March. A rate plan that opens Tuesday covers the whole week. A plan that opens Friday takes the quarterfinals, the semifinals and the final.
Game times and television designations are unpublished. The conference release states that both will be announced at a later date, and the release carries no ticket price or on-sale state. No session clock exists for any of the six days, so the split of demand between a midweek round and the championship weekend is not yet measurable.
The rate basis for March
Engine's Indianapolis series puts the city average at $128 a night across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. March sits at $122, five percent below that average, against a February low of $107 and a May peak of $158. The series ranks Indianapolis 39 of 50 markets and 14 percent below the $148 median.
A Downtown Indy Alliance snapshot reported by Bradford Allen on 19 March 2026 puts downtown occupancy at 64.7 percent against a U.S. average of 62.4 percent, average daily rate at $209.11 and RevPAR at $135.20. The same article reports 8.1 million room nights of demand in the 12 months to mid-2025 on CoStar data, more than 580,000 above the pre-COVID peak.
The supply additions inside the window
Visit Indy's connected-hotel page gives the Signia by Hilton Indianapolis 803 rooms. The Indiana Convention Center's news item of 21 April 2026 gives the same building 800 rooms and reservations for stays beginning 1 February 2027. That booking range covers the tournament week.
The Center's footer publishes 7,100 hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis and 4,700 connected to the Center by skywalk, with 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance. Visit Indy gives the connected package as 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms, and its meeting-hotels page counts 34,000 rooms in the metro area and more than 8,300 downtown with more than 3,000 in the pipeline.
The conference season behind the week
The conference release sets the 2026-27 season at 20 games per institution for a ninth consecutive year, 180 matchups in all. Conference play opens Tuesday 1 December with four games, 18 conference games fall between 1 and 13 December, and the schedule resumes Wednesday 30 December with two games.

What the week does not publish
No tournament room block, group rate or cut-off date appears on the conference release, on the venue's guest guide or on Visit Indy's meeting pages. Gainbridge Fieldhouse's A-Z guide states that door opening times vary by event, and publishes a 90-minute pre-tip window for Fever games only.
