Brian Cohen published a stay report on Postcard Cabins Dale Hollow at The Gate with Brian Cohen on 17 October 2026. He took two nights in the property's first week of operation, in 2021, when the site traded as Getaway Dale Hollow.
Three parts of the report apply to a property that carries a destination fee: the arrival, the fittings and the fee itself.
Arrival without a front desk
Cohen received a digital lock code by text message at 2:00 in the afternoon on his check-in day. He opened the door himself. The property has no front desk.
Marriott's Postcard Cabins FAQ describes the same process at every site. The access code, arrival and departure details, the Outpost map and Bonvoy benefits arrive by SMS on the day of arrival. Support runs 24 hours through the cabin landline or SMS.
Housekeeping happens between stays. Cabins are cleaned before each arrival.
The fittings a guest sees
The cabin held one bed with white linens, a blanket and pillows against pine walls, with two windows and blackout shades. A USB-powered lantern, a dimmer and a thermostat sat on the wall.
The kitchenette carried a two-burner stovetop, a small sink, a mini refrigerator, and a stocked set of cookware, tableware and dry goods. Outside stood two Adirondack chairs, a fire pit with a grill grate, a picnic table and a Campfire Kit box holding the firewood.
The bathroom held a toilet, a first aid box, two door hooks and a glass-door shower with bulk dispensers of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Cohen rated the pressure and the temperature as good. He called the stall small. He found no manufacturer name on the dispenser labels.
The FAQ publishes the current specification: a queen bed or a bunk bed for two to four guests, air conditioning and heat, a full bathroom, a kitchen with stove and mini fridge, a private fire pit, a picnic table and one designated parking space. It tells guests to keep indoor cookware off the fire pit.
The destination fee
Cohen paid nothing beyond his rate in 2021. He brought his own food.
He sets the current fee at USD 40.00 a day. His list of inclusions: three firewood bundles and starter kits, a USD 15.00 food and beverage credit, the s’mores kit, and pour-over coffee packets, tea bags and hot chocolate packets, each replenished daily.
The Marriott FAQ lists three firewood bundles with fire starters, a s’mores kit, a snack bundle with water, and four servings each of coffee, tea and hot chocolate, all replenished daily. The FAQ states no price for Postcard Cabins and carries no food and beverage credit. Its Trailborn entry describes a fee that varies by location.
Both figures stand on the review. An operator setting a comparable fee holds the inclusion list from the brand and the price from the guest.
The property's own record
The FAQ states that hot water in cold weather may run to five-minute showers with a 30-minute recharge. Cohen reported good pressure and temperature across two nights in 2021.
Cohen names the bulk amenities as Pharmacopia. The FAQ says cabins carry biodegradable shower products and names no brand.
The property has no restaurant or café on site, and the FAQ tells guests to bring food. Cohen cooked London broil, baked potatoes, sweet corn, frankfurters and salad at the fire pit and on the stovetop.
The conversion
Getaway renamed itself Postcard Cabins in an announcement dated Thursday 17 October 2024. Hotel Dive reported in July 2026 that Marriott acquired Postcard Cabins in December 2024, with 29 properties and more than 1,200 cabins.
Marriott's release of 30 September 2025 introduced Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy with Postcard Cabins and Trailborn Hotels as its two inaugural brands. It counts more than 1,200 cabins across 29 U.S. locations. The brand page states that guests earn Marriott Bonvoy points on a stay.
Cohen reports a promotion code, S6058, for up to 15 percent off at 33 participating properties across both brands. His terms: a three-night minimum, stays through Wednesday 30 June 2027, and a booking deadline of Monday 28 June 2027 at 11:59 in the evening Eastern Daylight Time. The code's terms come from the review.
What an operator takes from it
The fee carries the provisioning. A guest who arrives after dark finds firewood, coffee and a s’mores kit inside the fee, and no desk to ask.
Cohen's own stay shows the arithmetic a fee has to answer. He bought his own food and paid no fee in 2021. A guest on the current terms pays USD 40.00 a day and still brings the meals.
His verdict is positive. He recommends the property. He reports one addition since the conversion: Bonvoy points on each stay.
