Two notices from Hyatt on 9 September
Hyatt's newsroom published two notices on 9 September 2026. The first ends the enhanced loyalty relationship with American Airlines. Hyatt's wording states that the two companies “mutually decided to not continue our enhanced relationship.” The second announces a long-term strategic loyalty collaboration with Delta Air Lines.

The 15 November link deadline
Hyatt's transition notice carries the dates. An AAdvantage member who links an AAdvantage and World of Hyatt account by 11:59:59 p.m. Central on 15 November keeps earning World of Hyatt awards through Loyalty Point Rewards until 28 February 2027. A World of Hyatt member who links by the same deadline keeps earning AAdvantage awards through Milestone Rewards until 31 December 2026.
Earning, selecting and redeeming continue without interruption for the remainder of each programme's current earning year, on the notice's wording. The link is the member's action, and it runs through the two programme accounts.
The option that survives at the desk
An AAdvantage member can take 500 AAdvantage miles in place of World of Hyatt points on an eligible Hyatt stay by giving the AAdvantage number at check-in. Hyatt's notice states that the option continues after the broader relationship concludes. The front desk takes the number at the point of arrival, which is the one step the property performs.
The Delta collaboration
Hyatt and Delta announced the collaboration on 9 September 2026. Eligible elite members of both programmes will earn World of Hyatt points and Delta miles on qualifying travel once it launches. World of Hyatt elite members will earn points on qualifying Delta airfare purchases within qualifying fare classes. Delta SkyMiles Medallion members will earn miles on qualifying stays at participating Hyatt properties.
Hyatt states that enrollment, eligibility, earning details and launch timing arrive later. World of Hyatt carries 69 million members, on the release's own count.
What a property tracks
Hyatt's notices name no change to how a property takes a booking. The property-side items are the check-in option and the member's questions about which awards still accrue. A guest with an unlinked account keeps earning programme points and miles on stays, and the partner awards stop accruing at the end of the member's current earning year.
