A 207-room property rebuilt around convertible rooms
Hilton Garden Inn New York/Manhattan-Midtown East has finished a property-wide renovation. The work covers the guestrooms, the public spaces, the dining outlets and the guest amenities. The hotel holds 207 rooms at 206 East 52nd Street in Midtown East and describes the building as 28 stories.
Baskervill led the design from the Hilton Garden Inn Bloom scheme. The firm added warm textures, modern finishes and a palette of blue tones with yellow accents.
The Workspace Room that folds into a bed
Fourteen room types carry integrated wall beds. A guest moves the room between a living layout, a working layout and a sleeping layout inside one reservation.
The Workspace Rooms serve corporate guests and remote workers. The room works as a private office or as conference space for up to four people, with a large work surface and a 55-inch HDTV carrying HDMI connectivity. The conference table folds away, and a king bed sits under it.
A Workspace Room connects to an adjacent king room to form a two-room executive suite. The hotel sells the pair as one unit with the work space and the sleeping space held apart.
The hotel states that it is the only Hilton Garden Inn property that offers the convertible configuration.
Studio Rooms and the medical-stay demand
The Studio Rooms serve longer stays, families and guests visiting the hospitals nearby. The room runs as a residential living area through the day and becomes a king-bed bedroom at night.
Both room categories connect to adjacent king or two-queen rooms to form multi-room suites. The hotel names Memorial Sloan Kettering as a nearby demand source.
Every room carries new furnishings, larger work surfaces and upgraded hospitality centres with a microwave, a mini-fridge and a Keurig coffee maker. The room set adds charging ports, adjustable reading lamps, laptop-sized safes, blackout curtains, Digital Key access, complimentary Wi-Fi and 55-inch HDTVs with streaming.
The lobby and the Back Room
The lobby adds banquettes, communal tables and separate seating areas around the structural columns. New lighting and vertical detailing open the space.
The Back Room Restaurant & Bar holds the ground-floor social role. The room carries original wood wall panelling, an elevated bar, a pool table and arcade games. The outlet opens for breakfast, dinner and evening cocktails, and the menu adds a signature Smash Burger. A commissioned artwork titled Speakeasy Subway hangs in the space.
The hotel runs a Call & Collect service for guests who take the food to the room or off the property. The renovation also covered the marketplace, the laundry facilities, the business centre and the fitness centre, which carries a Peloton Bike and Precor machines. The property takes dogs and supplies pet beds, disposable water bowls and waste bags.
The material set behind the rebuild
The hotel worked with Mindclick on the materials. The specification carries reclaimed wood fibre furnishings, recycled nylon carpeting, GREENGUARD-certified furniture and low-VOC finishes.
LED lighting runs through the property. AtmosAir air purification sits in every guestroom and in all public areas.
The operator's reading
The rebuild converts a Midtown East room count into a mixed product set. Fourteen convertible room types move between layouts, the Workspace configuration sells as conference space for four, and the Studio rooms carry the longer stays.
The release carries no renovation start date, no completion date and no project cost. It also states no meeting-space square footage.
